How long is a hygienist appointment?
The length of your hygiene appointment can vary between 30 to 60 minutes and will depend on your dental needs. Your dental hygienist will use specially designed tools to carefully and gently scrape away the build-up of plaque and tartar from the surface of your teeth and around the gum line (scaling) and provide a ‘shine and polish’ to remove any surface stains.

Your dental hygienist will advise you how often is best for your needs. Your dentist will assess whether you need to see a dental hygienist, and will refer you to one if needed.
